We let her go on Saturday. Within the past few days she experienced severe kidney failure, and we didn't want to subject her to the trauma of kitty dialysis or a transplant or anything like that. She lived a long and happy life for nearly 16 years with [info]leendabunny, including the past two with both of us. We miss her terribly, but that's only when we're not being distracted by:

Not waiting around, we visited the Peninsula Humane Society and brought these two girls home. They're 7 months old, were brought in as strays, and were probably litter-mates. We wanted to get a pair who could amuse each other when we're not around, and these two demonstrated that the minute we saw them together in their cage. They're still getting used to their new digs but have already picked out some favorite spots, including the brand-new cat bed pictured here. We're also starting to bolt down everything that we don't want to end up on the floor, as of course they are kittens. In just their first night they've already removed CDs from the shelves, dropped a scrubbing brush in the bathtub, turned on the answering machine, and typed a paragraph's worth of "]" characters on my computer. Oh, the joy of being a cat person.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss of Miss China White, but I'm delighted for you and your kittens. I dearly wish I had a kitten of my own. Some day. :)

I am rather fond of cat people...

I sympathize with the farewell to China...

...perhaps the new cats are trying to tell you that they want a livejournal of their own? the woman I live with finally got me one a couple months ago.

I am so sorry for your loss.

I wish I could say I know how you feel. I don't, but deep in my head I know I will one day soon and the thought kills me. My cats are 10 now, brother and sister: Fluffy's Home Page

It looks like you have done the right thing and spread the love to 2 kitties who will be very lucky ones to have such a home.

Just please, do not let the destroy any CD's. We need you to have your collection intact.

BTW Did you know that cats listen to music through their butts? They read that way too!

Sorry about the loss of your white beauty. :( New kitties are a very good way to distract oneself, though. :)

I'm so sorry about your kitty. I don't know what I'll do when/if I lose one of my loves. Good for you for addopting to kitties and not just one. They will have you and each other.

oh! losing a cat is so much harder than non-cat people can ever imagine. i was so sad to read this! i found myself in a simlar situation a few years ago. i had a cat for 20 years, she died and i tried to live without a cat for about a month. one long, lonely, depressing month. then i got spike! he is so different and funny, he really made life better. you're two new kitties look very sweet and i hope they bring you much happiness. i'm a great fan of black and white kitties. yay.

Hugs for your loss. I've been there and it's never a comfortable experience. I'm glad you've got new fuzzy distractions to keep your mind from getting too bogged down. They look awfully happy and cute. :)
